Welcome to Kentucky - The Bluegrass State
Bluegrass means a lot of things in the Bluegrass State. There's the grass itself, a lush variety of groundcover -- more green than blue -- that powers the state's racehorses.
There's Bluegrass Country, where most of those horses are raised -- a region of immaculate rolling pastures, tidy white fences and large, stately mansions: This is the land of Kentucky's royalty, be they horse or human.
And then there's bluegrass music, a folk art from a much different side of the state -- the remote and beautiful Appalachian Mountains.
Travelers can experience all the varieties of bluegrass in one vacation -- plus a whole lot more. They can visit a Civil War battlefield in the morning and ogle Corvettes in the afternoon; hike through the same forests that greeted Daniel Boone or sip a glass of fine bourbon whiskey; enjoy the museums and performances of Louisville along with the geologic wonders of Mammoth Cave. Whatever kind of visit you have planned for Kentucky, keep yourself open to new possibilities: You'll likely find more than you expect.
Flying into Bluegrass Field in Lexington you will undoubtedly fly over the famous Keeneland Race Track located across from the airport. Bluegrass Field is located in the heart of many famous horse farms. To find out about horse farm tours and things to do in the Lexington area we recommend you visit Lexington Information.
Out our way you will find many small towns with large attractions. In Harrodsburg there's The Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, America's largest restored Shaker community.
Also out our way in Boyle County is Historic Penn's Store, the oldest country store in America in continuous ownership and operation by the same family since 1850. Or you might want to visit Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site ; the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War.
If you like country music you'll want to visit Renfro Valley where they have shows every night of the week.
Close to the ranch you'll find Rocky Top Furniture. We're proud to offer their high quality Cedar furniture in the Canoe Creek Online Store. Also close you will find the Wood Shack and the Country Peddler which feature crafts of local origin.
